Do I have PCOS?
Have you questioned if you have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), a hormonal disorder that impacts your egg growth and ovulation? Well, you're not alone. PCOS is fairly common, highly treatable, and the good news is you can absolutely still get pregnant.
Symptoms can significantly vary from woman to woman, from irregular menstrual cycles to anxiety or depression.
Symptoms of PCOS
- No periods, irregular periods or periods longer than 35 days
- Blood tests or physical symptoms showing elevated androgens (oily skin, acne, hair loss or excessive hair growth in face or on body)
- Polycystic ovaries (your doctor will see this on a scan)
What can I do about it?
-
Talk to your doctor about hormonal medication or supplements (metformin, clomiphene, birth control.
-
OTC supplements: Myo-Inositol, Vitamin D, Vitamin C, Magnesium, B Complex, Zinc, NAC, Resveratol
-
Anti-inflammatory mediterranean diet, so limit white carbs, sugar, trans and saturated fats and stock up on vegetables, organic and vegetable protein, complex carbs, fatty fish & fish oil, turmeric (yum, golden latte!)
As always, contact your doctor for a diagnosis and treatment plan to get you your fertility on track.
